About Compress Image
Compress Image is a fast, browser-based image optimizer that lets you shrink JPG, PNG, and WebP files without giving up control of your photos. You set the quality with a single slider, drop your files in, and download a smaller version in seconds — all without uploading anything to a server.
The tool uses modern browser APIs (Web Workers and Canvas) so compression happens in parallel and never blocks the page. For most photos, a quality setting between 70% and 80% removes 50–80% of the file size with no visible loss. For PNG and WebP files, the same slider controls the encoder's lossy quality, so you get the right tradeoff for the format.
When you compress more than one image at a time, the result is bundled into a single ZIP file for easy downloading. Use it before emailing photos, before posting to a website, or before uploading to platforms with strict size limits — the smaller files will load faster and save bandwidth without you having to think about it.
Compared to TinyPNG and similar services that limit free users to 20 images per session and require an account for batch jobs, Utilix Compress Image runs every job locally with no count limits. Original EXIF metadata can be preserved or stripped depending on your privacy needs (stripping is the default — most social platforms and forums don't want it anyway). Because nothing uploads, even very large camera RAW exports compress as quickly as your CPU allows.
How Compress Image works
- Drag and drop one or more JPG, PNG, or WebP images into the dropzone.
- Choose a quality setting. 70–80% is a safe default; drop to 50–60% for thumbnails or social media.
- The browser's Web Worker re-encodes each image in parallel on your CPU.
- Preview the size savings before download — you'll see the original size, new size, and percentage saved.
- Download a single image directly, or grab a ZIP if you compressed several at once.
When to use Compress Image
- Shrink wedding or vacation photos before emailing them so the message fits inside the recipient's attachment limit.
- Optimize hero images and product photos before uploading to a website to improve page-speed and Core Web Vitals.
- Reduce the size of screenshots or design exports before sending them in Slack, Notion, or Linear.
- Compress receipts and document scans before attaching them to expense or insurance claims.
- Bring oversized PNG exports under platform limits (Twitter 5 MB, LinkedIn 8 MB, etc.) without losing transparency.
- Save mobile data when sharing images over messaging apps that don't auto-compress (Telegram, Signal originals).
Why choose Utilix Compress Image
- No upload — sensitive personal photos, ID scans, and confidential designs stay on your device.
- No daily limit, no signup gate, no 'verify your email' detour. Compress as many images as you want.
- Batch processing with parallel Web Workers — much faster than sequential server upload-compress-download.
- Keeps the original format. PNG stays PNG with transparency intact; WebP stays WebP.
- Works on any modern browser, including mobile Safari and Chrome on Android — no app to install.
